Topic: Roles and Responsibilities of an Owner’s Representative and Integration with Design and Construction Professionals
Presenter: Dan Cates, Northstar Management
Dan will present on the role and responsibilities of an Owner’s Representative and discuss how this role integrates with design and construction professionals during the project process. Northstar brings extensive experience as an Owner’s Representative and Dan will share Northstar’s unique approach to the role and discuss key project challenges from the Owner’s perspective.
Dan brings over 30 years of business development and management experience to the Northstar leadership team. His expertise includes both Owner’s Representative and Contractor roles which provides him with a unique perspective of the Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) process.
In his role as Principal, Dan provides leadership for Client Relations and Business Operations. He works closely with the Senior Management Team to help customize and tailor Northstar’s services to meet the needs of the client and the requirements of the project. His mantra is to ensure all Northstar projects meet or exceed the “Owner’s” expectations and the process of getting there is a great team experience.
In addition to his responsibilities with Northstar, Dan is an active member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering including participation with local chapters (MOSHE and SICHE). He also serves as an Advisory Board member for the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo in Chicago, IL. Dan is focused on continuously improving his professional development and has participated in numerous industry events accumulating hundreds of hours in training that includes PDC Best Practices, LEED, and LEAN.
