"Plastics in Asphalt"
Today an estimated 19 percent of municipal solid waste in the U.S. is plastic alone. Unmarketable and ocean bound plastics is becoming a serious environmental issue. Recent federal legislation will encourage cross-industry research to explore ways to divert this massive waste stream into sustainable infrastructure. The National Asphalt Pavement Association has taken a leading role in trying to understand the potential opportunities and challenges that may come from the use of recycled plastics in asphalt mixtures. This session will be a candid conversation between NAPA and one of its members on the ins and outs of plastic modified asphalts.
