Kansas City Levee Projects - Lunch & Learn

Kansas City Levee Projects - Lunch & Learn
NEW DATE:  Thursday, May 21
LOCATION: Kansas City/Blue Springs (NEW VENUE: BLUE SPRINGS GOLF CLUB)

Team leaders from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) – Kansas City District will be providing details related to new portions of the $453 Million Kansas City Levee project to raise and improve approximately 17 miles of existing levees and floodwalls along the Kansas River in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The entire project will improve the overall resiliency and reliability of the Argentine, Armourdale and Central Industrial District levee systems and reduce the risk of flooding to the homes and businesses located behind the levees. The first contract (a $33 Million design/build pump station replacement effort) was awarded in September of 2019 and design work is underway. The USACE is currently planning on awarding three more contracts: two pump station repair contracts that will target small businesses; and one large contract for raising the levees and floodwalls. The USACE anticipates advertising the remaining work this year. Other project partners include the Kaw Valley Drainage District, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, the City of Kansas City, KS and the City of Kansas City, MO.
