Apprenticeship Programs

The AGC of Missouri maintains joint apprenticeship committees with five of the basic construction skilled craft professional unions: Carpenters, Cement Masons, Iron Workers, Construction Craft Laborers and Operating Engineers. These committees are responsible for providing skilled craft professionals for the construction industry through apprenticeship and journey level training programs. Training programs for Cement Masons and Iron Workers are held at the Construction Training School
at 6301 Knox Industrial Drive; the facility for construction Laborers is located at High Hill; and the facility for Operating Engineers is in Silex, Missouri.

Journey Level Training

All of the above mentioned Joint Apprenticeship Training Programs Provide Journey Level training for their members. The Journey Level classes are offered on an as needed basis to update and upgrade the skills of Journey Level skilled craft professionals. Some of the classes are offered for certification purposes, like the Certified Crane Operator class, OSHA ten-hour, MSHAW, First Aid and CPR. Most of the classes are offered during late afternoon or evenings to accommodate individuals who are working in the field.

The support and encouragement of the Contractors for Journey Level training is critical. It is this training that helps maintain the availability of high quality skilled craft processionals that make Missouri competitive in the construction industry.

More information about the various skilled craft specific Journey Level training can be found by contacting the Joint Apprenticeship Programs listed above.
