AGCMO Members Included in ENR 400
The May 23rd issue of Engineering News-Record once again pays tribute to the Top 400 contractors around the nation. In the lead article, Firms Enjoy Home Cooking, Senior Editor Gary Tulacz notes that “While the plunge in prices for oil, gas and metals has hurt the international market, the domestic market remains strong”, reaching pre-Recession levels. Signs of economic recovery are everywhere and we anticipate a healthy finish to 2016. In fact, the AGC of America recently ranked Missouri 12th in the U.S. in employment growth for April, with 800 jobs added. (View: http://bit.ly/22ik9QQ) Overall, Missouri ranks 25th in the nation for construction growth employment of 5.1 % over a 12-month period, from April ’15 to April ’16, with 5,800 new jobs created. With construction workers’ pay in Missouri averaging $26.25/hr., (seasonally adjusted. ₁ U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics http://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/compaehes.txt ), the jobs our members are creating are among the most positive forces in Missouri’s economic engine.
In addition to the stellar performance by our larger contractor members, we realize that many construction jobs are also created by the hundreds of subcontractors and small- to mid-sized businesses also represented among our membership. Together, AGC of Missouri contractors have billions of dollars of total economic impact on our state’s economy– a fact of which we can all be very proud.
