2016 BuildMO Week (Oct. 10-14) to Showcase Construction Industry Around State

The construction industry will be top of mind for Missourians as the AGC of Missouri holds news events at construction sites around the state during 2016 BuildMO Week, Oct. 10-14. We plan to highlight major projects in St. Louis and Southeast Missouri on Oct. 10, and will travel to Jefferson City/Columbia and Southwest Missouri on Oct. 11.  On Oct. 14, AGCMO and our industry partners will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Construction Training School with an event and news conference in St. Louis.

Why is this important?  It’s an opportunity to inform and educate the public about our industry, reinforce the pride and ownership that our skilled trades and contractors feel in every project they deliver, and remind business, community and state leaders that our industry is an important economic engine for Missouri’s economy.   We add value through each project we approach – whether a bridge, road, building, factory, retail center or hospital.  We always leave it newer, better and improved.  Our work creates jobs, spurs additional economic development and improves communities.

2016 BuildMO Week Schedule:

Monday, Oct. 10 — St. Louis / SEMO

Tuesday, Oct. 11— Mis-State / SWMO

Friday, Oct. 14 — Construction Training School, 3 p.m. news conference; 4 p.m. reception

We invite you to help tell our story.  Here are just a few of the ways in which you can participate:

  • Display BuildMO banners at your job sites (order deadline is Sept. 15)
  • Distribute BuildMO hardhat stickers to your workforce
  • Inform your workforce about BuildMO Week
  • Include the BuildMO schedule in your PR & marketing materials
  • Consider creating your own BuildMO event for your office or work site
  • Use the BuildMO logo on newsletters and other company material
  • Create social media posts on LinkedIN, Twitter, Facebook and other social media around BuildMO events – Use hashtags #weBuildMO #BuildMOweek

Construction in Missouri represents 3.7 percent of our state’s GDP (2015) of  $261.5 billion, or $9.7 billion. We employ 116,200 people throughout the state.

At the same time, our industry is a leader in introducing and implementing new technologies, methods and materials.  In many ways, we were among the first in business and industry to focus on environmental issues with the creation and implementation of green building standards.  We create, support and enforce safe conditions for our workforce like no other industry has.

We should be proud of what we have done and all the future holds for our industry.  Let’s show the world how we BuildMO!
