Build-A-Brat Declared Complete Success
CLC & Education Foundation Present Scholarships

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) hosted the 19th annual Build-A-Brat Picnic on June 7 at Tilles Park.

The picnic started back in 1999 and was hosted the first year by the AGC of St. Louis’ Human Resources Forum.  In 2000 the Young Constructors Forum (now known as the Construction Leadership Council or “CLC”) took it over and has continued hosting the event ever since.  The 19th annual picnic was certainly one of the best, with exceeding 370 people - far exceeded years past.

The Build-A-Brat Picnic also includes a silent auction to help raise money for scholarships and donations.  This year the CLC presented two scholarships of $2,000 each at the picnic.  The 2018 CLC scholarship recipients are Lauren Houston (of Kirksville and pictured below) and Raymond Boos (of Cape Girardeau, no photo available).

Lauren is a student at MWSU and is majoring in construction engineering technology.  Raymond is a student at MS&T and majoring in civil engineering.

The AGC of MO Education Foundation awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Craig Miller who is a student in the Carpenter Joint Apprentice Program and employed by Pace Construction Company.

The CLC also contributed $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis,  represented at the picnic by Harper Zielonko, Resource Development Relationship Manager.

Thanks to our Supporters
No event is successful without financial support from our members.  Our thanks to icon Mechanical Construction & Engineering, LLC for their Bar Sponsorship.  Monetary donations were received from Badger Daylighting and David Hermann and were greatly appreciated.  And, it was definitely a hot day – making the upscale and air conditioned facilities a real necessity!  Our thanks to On Site Companies for providing those.

There were five tent displays by:
ABC Supply Co., Inc.
Foundations Supportworks By Woods
Hilti, Inc.
MayeCreate Design
Trane

Our DJ, Cody Bahr also provided great tunes that evening. Most important were the grill masters for the event Michael Richardson, Mike Brendel and Ryan Kurwicki who all took part in grilling those tasty brats.  The micro brews were a big hit this year so you can expect those will be repeated next year.

We thank all the members and non-members who attended the event and made it a huge success as well as those who donated the silent auction items.  These generous donations help CLC raise more money for scholarships.

Last but not least, our sincere thanks to the volunteers on the CLC Picnic committee and particularly the picnic chair Michelle George of McCarthy Building Companies.  Michelle did an outstanding job along with committee members Mike Brendel, Tim Conkling, Oliver Coulson, Nathan Haas and Ryan Kurwicki.  Oliver Coulson of Tarlton Corporation couldn’t attend the event but is the Chair of the Construction Leadership Council and we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge his dedication to the CLC.  Also a big thanks to our CLC vice chair this year Chris Kozeny of Kozeny-Wagner, Inc.
