Cybersecurity Lunch and Learn - July 11

July 11, 2023
Location: St. Louis

CMMC 2.0 & What it Means for DOD Construction
Cybersecurity and all construction work for the government are intertwining like never before. The Department of Defense (DOD) has found it necessary to implement Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) licenses for not just the General Contractors, but also ALL Subcontractors that are working on any government work. These changes started in 2023 and require that any subcontractor that is working under a general contractor has to have their own license and are no longer protected by the general contractor's. This means that if one subcontractor does not have this license, then the general contractor can be fined or lose remaining work on any current job and no new bid will be considered.
In this lunch and learn, we will cover:

  • What is the CMMC 2.0 (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification)
  • Why the DOD found it necessary to implement the CMMC
  • What role the Cyber-AB plays in the CMMC
  • The CMMC time table to full implementation
  • An explanation of Levels 1, 2, and 3 along with what defines COTS (Common Off The Shelf) product
  • An in depth look at the different options general and sub-contractors need to know to set up their IT systems and train their team members to meet these requirements.
  • Where is CMMC going

Leading the discussion is Wayne Shaw of Five 9s Consulting and Fred Moore of Moore Computing. They will explain what CMMC is, why it is so important to have these new licenses, and what your company needs to do be in compliance.
